BOXTALES DISTANCE-LEARNING SUMMER CAMP 2020!

There’s no substitute for face to face, group interaction and learning in the performing arts, but creating this program has been surprisingly exciting. While there are many things we can’t do or can’t do as well in a virtual world, we are discovering a plethora of resources we had never dreamed of. In some ways, this version will be even better!

The camp will be conducted on a ZOOM format, with both synchronous and asynchronous classes, taught by Matt and I. In addition, there will be selected online classes taught by the world’s most famous teachers, in the same performing art forms we base our method on and we will curate a collection of videos of the world’s best performing artists from throughout history for the students to watch. Our physicality will vary between seated screen focus and our normal rigorous challenges. We will be structuring the time so that our community of students gets valuable social time together, and some out-door activities as well.

It is said that no actor training is complete without developing a solo performance. The end goal of this year’s camp is to achieve this. We hope in the future, when this crisis is all over, that we can hold a Boxtales Theatre Camp festival, where the students would brush up their pieces and perform them live for the community. But, no matter what, they will have developed a solo piece that they can perform in the future and even audition with, and grown immensely as a performer.

This opportunity will be offered first to Boxtales Theatre Camp families. If we don’t hear back from you by May 7, and still have openings, we will begin to advertise to the public. All sign-ups will be on a first-come-first-served basis.

BOXTALES Distance-Learning Summer Theatre Youth Camp

A three-week journey in the BOXTALES method, including training in:
Acting, Storytelling, Acro-Yoga, Mime, Music, and Collaboration.

To ensure the highest quality, we have raised the age limit by one year. You must be 9 years old when you sign up for Youth Camp!

DATES: June 22- July 10
TIMES: Mon – Thurs 9 am – 1:00 pm
LOCATION: Online
AGES: 9 – 13
COST: $550
(A limited number of partial scholarships are available)
CLASS SIZE: 15 students
HOMEWORK: (Offered, but not required) Students can choose to do 1 hour of homework each weekday. This will mostly be watching examples of great performing artists as well as historical and cultural pieces.

BOXTALES Summer Theatre Teen Camp

Take your acting to the next level, with Boxtales new Teen Camp! Train with theatre professionals in a highly stylized theatrical method.

DATES: July 13- July 31
TIMES: Mon – Fri 9 am – 2:30 pm
LOCATION: Online
AGES: 14 – 19
COST: $650
(A limited number of partial scholarships are available)
